Please help us establish the

Ellis County Veterans & Military Resources Center

Establishing a permanent home for Chris Kyle Post 388 Midlothian, Texas

Our Vision

The American Legion Chris Kyle Post 388 is dedicated, through our proposal for the Ellis County Veterans & Military Center, to honoring the legacy of Chris Kyle, Chad Littlefield, Veterans, those still on active duty, U.S. Reserves, and National Guard by establishing a permanent community hub that empowers all who have served and are still serving from Ellis and surrounding counties through comprehensive services, community events, and educational partnerships – fostering patriotism, camaraderie, and inspiration for generations to come.

Our mission for the Center is to consolidate military and civilian resources through ONE CENTRAL LOCATION to provide efficient and effective support and fellowship for Veterans, active duty, reserves, guards, and their families.

Our Veteran Population is Large ... The Need is Greater

Over 12,000 Veterans live in Ellis County alone — and the need has never been greater.

According to the Veterans Administration’s National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics (as of September 30, 2025), Ellis County is home to more than 12,000 Veterans, including 4,500 who are age 65 or older. When you include the surrounding counties of Johnson, Hill, and Navarro, those numbers rise to nearly 34,000 Veterans — more than 12,000 of them seniors.

These heroes earned every benefit we can give them. Yet right now there is no central place in north central Texas where they can find the help they deserve. If you want to see our vision for Ellis and surrounding counties (south of DFW), check out the Veterans Center in Tyler – CampVTyler.org

Volunteers — many of them Veterans themselves — are working out of their kitchens, cars, libraries, and tiny scattered offices just to reach those in need. Too many families never learn about the services available. Too many Veterans get lost in the bureaucratic maze and simply give up — walking away from retirement benefits, housing assistance, nutrition support, medical care, hospice, and burial benefits they earned through their service.

That changes with the American Legion Veterans Center in Midlothian.

This one central location will bring many services under one roof — a welcoming place where Veterans and their families can walk in, get answers, receive real help, and reconnect with the military community they love. No more scattered efforts. No more frustration. No more heroes falling through the cracks.

Your gift today builds that center. It ensures every Veteran in Ellis County — and every military family who needs us — finally has a place that says, “Welcome home. We’ve got you.”

Together, we can deliver the services, the community, and the support our veterans have already paid for with their service.

Donate now — because no Veteran should ever have to fight alone again.

Dream Big, ... Accomplish More

The American Legion Chris Kyle Post 388 Family is a united force dedicated to serving Veterans and strengthening our community across Ellis County. Our close-knit family includes the Post itself (Veterans), the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit 388, American Legion Riders (ALR) Chapter 388, and the Sons of the American Legion (Sons) Squadron 388.

A permanent home at the new Veterans Center in Midlothian will enable our Post and family to dream big and accomplish more than ever before. This dedicated facility will elevate our position as a cornerstone and inspiration for all living in the north Texas area. We will better serve our Veterans, their families and the community by providing facilities for meetings and high-profile community events as well as offices offering privacy while working with our Veterans to obtain the benefits and services they have earned.

We proudly serve as the Chartered Organization for three Scouting America (BSA) units: Scout Troop 512 for Boys, Scout Troop 215 for Girls, and Cub Scouts Pack 962. These outstanding programs, guided by our veteran mentors, instill the core values of leadership, patriotism, and service in our youth. Our Scouts actively serve the community and veterans through patriotic ceremonies, honor guards, flag retirements, community service projects supporting military families, and events that build lasting appreciation for those who have sacrificed for our freedom.

We are particularly excited that this new home will also resolve the growing pains experienced by our Scouting units at their current locations, providing a permanent base from which to continue – and expand – their vital service to our communities and veterans. One of our latest Eagle Scouts from Troop 512 was awarded Eagle Project of the Year for 2025 by Circle 10 Council.

This Veterans Center will stand as a powerful tribute, honoring the legacies of Chris Kyle, Chad Littlefield, and all area Veterans, while centralizing the support needed to help every Veteran and military family in Ellis County receive the benefits and support they deserve.
